The Openserve
story
Managing Director of Openserve,
Stuart Thackray , was inspired
to start the company through
his own experiences managing
the IT system of a small business.
He experienced several problems
with conventional peer-to-peer
networking, including all users
having to stop work when the
PC on which the files were stored
crashed, and the inability to
protect confidential files.
Unwilling to invest in a
costly server to solve the problems,
Stuart Thackray decided to turn
to open-source software, or
Linux. This proved to be a very
reliable, secure and cost-effective
solution.
Stuart Thackray created Openserve
in 2002 to bring the benefit
of his experience to other small
businesses, giving them the
network capabilities of large
corporations at a price they
can afford. |
